User-centered Approach for a Movie Production Company

Collaborating partner: LEOH productions, Norway

Background

LEOH, a Norway-based video and film production company with over a decade of experience operating through YouTube and virtual entertainment advertising, currently lacks a website. In today’s Information and Technology age, the absence of a dedicated online presence poses a challenge for the business in terms of image visibility and adaptability in the competitive market.

The problem

The project aims to address this challenge by developing a comprehensive online exposure solution for LEOH through the creation of a professional videography website. Through research methodologies such as online surveys, card sorting, and benchmarking, the project seeks to identify user expectations for videography websites in the current landscape. The ultimate goal is to design high-fidelity interfaces that meet both user expectations and the operational needs of LEOH.

My role

The project was divided into two components: Group and Individual. While the initial research phase was collaboratively conducted within the group, the implementation of solutions diverged to individual efforts. Consequently, LEOH products received distinct solutions from each group member,

Personas

Four user personas were created based on the previous customer experience of LEOH, and protentional user after the expansion of the business. First user is a metaphor of a couple who need videography service to catch up the sweetest moment. Second user requires a professional for making a promotional video for a product has newly released. Third user is a musician who wants to make some music video, but need a professional touch in the videos. The fourth user is an entrepreneur.

Wireframing, prototyping, and User testing

The product design process commenced with sketching, followed by the creation of low-fidelity prototypes, and subsequently progressed to high-fidelity designs. After reaching the high-fidelity stage, the study proceeded to conduct user testing to gather valuable feedback from users for further refinement.

High fidelity prototype

The study  successfully delivered  a user-centric videography website for LEOH, enhancing its image visibility and adaptability in the competitive market. The high-fidelity interfaces, informed by thorough research and usability testing,  not only cater to the current user requirements but also provide efficient administrative tools for LEOH to manage and showcase their video and film production services effectively.
